Strategies to address issues
Reduce the incidents of acute harm and death associated with drug and alcohol abuse.
Adequate Policing to enforce laws to investigate and reduce drug and alcohol related harm under age drinking/smoking.
Educate community in a culturally appropriate manner on safe usage of drugs and alcohol.
Resource young people in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services through departmental traineeships and apprenticeships.
Work with existing programs and services to support young people through transitional periods.
Family & Domestic Violence:
Projects and programs that have direction and results, need to be long term, coordinated ,sufficiently resourced and have networked support and commitment which can be offered 24 hours.
Safe and secure emergency accommodation for young people.
Emergency money for clothing and evacuation of clients.
Local Domestic Violence Field Workers and Counsellors that are culturally aware.
Traineeships need be made available in this area.
